Day 3 of our photogrammetry training in Vienna marked a pivotal step for participants as they transitioned from capturing images to creating 3D models using specialized software. Today’s sessions were all about equipping educators with the technical skills needed to turn their photographs into fully realized digital models, setting the stage for interactive and engaging educational content.
The morning kicked off with an Introduction to Photogrammetry Software, where participants got hands-on experience with industry-standard tools like Agisoft Metashape, RealityCapture, and Meshroom. In this session, they learned about each software’s unique features, understanding how to navigate the interfaces, manage data, and begin the process of building their 3D models.
Next, participants moved on to the Data Import and Organization session, which provided guidance on uploading their photos and organizing their files within the software. This practical step was invaluable as participants learned how to efficiently manage large datasets, a crucial skill when working with photogrammetry projects that require numerous high-resolution images.
In the afternoon, participants delved into the 3D Model Creation Process, where they practiced generating models from their captured data. This included creating point clouds, aligning photos, and establishing the foundational structure for each model. By working through each stage, participants began to see their work come to life in 3D, building both confidence and excitement for what they could accomplish with these tools.
The day concluded with a Hands-On Modeling Exercise, allowing participants to put their knowledge into action by creating initial 3D representations of their chosen objects. This exercise not only solidified their understanding of the software but also showcased the impressive progress they’ve made since Day 1.
By the end of Day 3, participants were not only more comfortable with photogrammetry software but also well on their way to producing intricate digital models that will transform educational content.
