Constanța, Romania — National Military Museum
Our partnership gathered in Constanța for the fourth Transnational Project Meeting (TPM4) of S.P.Q.R – Schools and People of Europe, an Erasmus+ cooperation that brings Ancient Rome to life for today’s classrooms. Hosted by Asociația Culturală Tomis at the National Military Museum, the meeting brought teachers, reenactors, and education innovators around one table to align on the final stretch of the project.
A quick refresher: what is S.P.Q.R?
S.P.Q.R is about helping schools teach history, citizenship, and classical studies in a way that students can truly experience. We combine living‑history reenactments with immersive 360°/VR resources so that learners don’t just read about the past—they step into it. Throughout the project, partners have created classroom‑ready scenarios, filmed reenactments, and transformed them into open educational resources (OERs) that teachers can use for lessons, projects, and discussions about European values and civic participation.
Highlights from TPM4
1) Late‑beta demo of Study360.eu
We showcased a late beta of the Study360.eu platform, designed to make immersive lessons easy to create and easy to use. The demo focused on three teacher‑friendly flows:
Explore: find scenes and materials in a curated map‑based library;
Build: assemble step‑by‑step lessons using 360° photos, videos, and info‑spots;
Deliver: present a focused learning experience in class, in the lab, or via VR headsets.
2) Gantt chart & critical path check
The team reviewed the full project timeline, with a practical look at what remains and where tasks overlap. We confirmed responsibilities, locked key hand‑in dates, and flagged any dependencies that could affect the final outputs. The goal is simple: arrive at TPM5 and the Multiplier Events with everything polished and ready for schools.
3) Work package updates
Each partner reported on content development, reenactment footage, translations, and platform integration. Special attention went to:
Quality and structure of OERs (lesson objectives, activities, assessment ideas);
Accessibility and classroom usability (clear instructions, lightweight files, safe browser delivery);
Multilingual rollout so resources can be used across partner countries.
4) Administration and dissemination We reviewed documentation, visibility rules, and how partners can best present results to local school communities. The upcoming Multiplier Events will showcase the platform, sample lessons, and teacher use‑cases, so we refined the event formats and demo scripts.
What’s left before the finish line
Only TPM5 and the Multiplier Events remain. To make the most of them, the consortium committed to a short, focused list of deliverables:
Finalize all OERs: last content checks, consistent structure, and proofing across languages;
Polish the platform: fix minor UI issues, streamline navigation, and stabilize the player for 360°/VR;
Teacher‑ready bundles: printable lesson outlines, quick‑start guides, and presentation slides for school workshops;
Evidence & reporting: tidy documentation, screenshots, and public links to support dissemination and audit needs.
Why this matters for schools
S.P.Q.R. isn’t about replacing textbooks—it’s about bringing context and curiosity back into the room. When students can walk through a Roman forum, examine artifacts up close, or watch a reenacted debate, teachers gain a powerful way to discuss law, citizenship, culture, and the roots of Europe’s shared values. The Study360.eu platform ties it all together so schools can use these experiences right away.
Thank you to our hosts and partners
Our sincere thanks to Asociația Culturală Tomis for hosting TPM4 in Constanța, and to all partners for their dedication. The collaboration between schools, reenactment groups, and education technologists is what makes S.P.Q.R. special—and what ensures the results will live on in classrooms long after the project concludes.
What’s next
TPM5 (Final Meeting): project wrap‑up, platform sign‑off, and sustainability planning;
Multiplier Events: open demonstrations for teachers, students, and the wider public, featuring the Study360.eu lessons and practical classroom tips.
Stay tuned—we’re almost there. If you’re a teacher or school leader interested in piloting the materials, keep an eye on our announcements. We’ll share dates and registration details for the Multiplier Events and how to access the final resources as soon as they’re public.
